Here are some Articles of our church shooting Nearly a dozen people were injured trying to flee when a gunman stood up and killed another man during a Sunday church service in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the gunman apparently approached the victim from behind and fired from about three or four feet away at St. Paul's Albanian Catholic Church. In a church statement Sunday, the Rev. Anton Kqira called the shooting "the result of a dispute between individuals." "Our prayers and condolences go out to the family of the victim," Kqira said. Parishioner Luigi Gjokaj thought at first it was a terrorist attack, the Associated Press reported. Gjokaj said the the suspect stood up and yelled, "Yes, I am here," before opening fire. The priest was reportedly preparing to distribute the sacrament at the time. Mr. Gjokaj said he knew the suspect as well as the victim. He said one had been a best man at the other's wedding, but that they since had been feuding. Witnesses say the gunman then fired into the air, and yelled, "I done what I was supposed to do." The suspect was wrestled to the ground by worshippers. His identity has not been released, and he has not yet been charged. The victim's name is also being withheld. Most of the roughly 1,000 people in St. Paul's Albanian Church ran for the exits. More than 10 people were injured trying to flee, some apparently by leaping out windows, authorities and witnesses said. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Article two ROCHESTER HILLS,
Mich. (AP) -- A man fatally shot another during a Sunday church service and
several other people were injured trying to flee the building, authorities said.
Oakland County
Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the man apparently approached the victim from
behind and shot him from about three or four feet away at St. Paul's Albanian
Catholic Church in this Detroit suburb. A suspect was taken
into custody following the shooting, Bouchard said. Authorities, who were
dispatched to the church about 1:11 p.m., recovered two handguns and there were
several casings found on the ground, but Bouchard said it was uncertain how many
times the victim was shot. Bouchard said neither
the victim -- who was at Sunday's service with his son and daughter -- nor the
suspect were members of St. Paul's. The children are between ages 10 and 15,
Bouchard said. Parishioner Luigi
Gjokaj, 42, said the priest was preparing to distribute the sacrament when the
suspect stood up and yelled "yes, I am here" before shooting the
victim. "I first thought
it was a terrorist attack," said Gjokaj, who lives in Macomb County. Gjokaj said he knew
both the suspect and the victim, who he said had an ongoing dispute. He said one
had once been the best man in the other's wedding. Bouchard said the
shooting appeared to be some sort of vendetta. In a church statement
Sunday, the Rev. Anton Kqira called the shooting "the result of a dispute
between individuals." "Our prayers and
condolences go out to the family of the victim," Kqira said. Bouchard said at
least seven other churchgoers were treated for minor injuries on the scene and
at least four were being transported to area hospitals. Bouchard said most of
the injuries -- primarily cuts and bruises -- appear to have been sustained when
people tried to flee. He said some jumped through windows to escape the
shooting.
