Something
exciting is ALWAYS going on here!
MARCH IS
READING MONTH
Author in Residence
is an exciting program sponsored by our PTO which allows
schools to host authors and illustrators. Students have the opportunity to talk
and share their feelings with the author about the books that they have read.
This encourages children to read and express themselves through writing and
drawing. This year, we are pleased to welcome the following authors:
Grades K, 1, 2 : Robbyn Smith van
Frankenhuyzen on Monday, March 15th
www.hazelridgefarm.com
Grades 3, 4, 5 :
Karen and Darrin Brege on Wednesday,
March 10th

The Breges' will be selling personally
autographed copies of their books. If you are interested in ordering,
please click on the link below. We also have copies of all of the books
in the media center which are available for student check out.

Our PTO has started a Birthday Book Club
which will give your child a chance to purchase a new book for our library in
honor of their very special day. Each book purchased will be inscribed with your
child's name, picture and date of birth. For more information,
click
here.

Though we stress to each student that it is their
responsibility to remember their library book each week, some may need a little
reminder. Not sure what day your child comes to library? Click on the books
below for the schedule of library classes.

Please remember to save Box Tops for Education
coupons. The money generated from these coupons goes directly towards purchasing exciting new
books for our library.

Remember to save and send in any used ink cartridges,
toners, cell phones, or laptops for Cherokee to
recycle. We are paid in cash for most of the items we turn in. This money
is then used to
buy supplies and books for our ever growing media center! In addition, it's nice
to know that we're helping to
save our earth by keeping these items out of landfills!

We also participate in Campbell's Labels for
Education. Their
catalog offers a
variety of school products to choose from.
E-Labels
is a new way to earn extra points by having qualifying products purchased
with your Kroger card electronically deposited into our school account.
Click
here to learn more and to
register. Of course we still accept paper labels and appreciate you sending them
in - they help a lot!
