Awards System

AWARDS SYSTEM

The purpose of the Dakota High School Award System is to promote, recognize, and reward excellence for performance in all areas of the school curriculum.  We encourage student involvement in all activities and the award system is designed to recognize participation.

The performance of each student is to be evaluated by faculty sponsors/coaches on a scale ranging from zero through the maximum number of points allotted for each activity.  As symbols of recognition of achievement, the award system will use class numerals, a school letter and chevrons.  A certificate of award suitable for framing will be presented during the school year to each student earning cumulative points.  Students qualify for awards by earning point totals as follows:

Each subsequent award requires an additional 100 points.

Students who transfer to Dakota may earn major awards by accumulating points as follows:

*At the end of the sophomore year students with an accumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher are invited to join Dakota’s National Honor Society.  The class of 2006 will need to acquire an accumulative grade point average of 3.45.
